Who Can Post Events To The Calendar?

Anyone can post events to the calendar. The calendar is intended for use by individuals, organizations and establishments. Events to be posted must have a significant "arts, culture or heritage" component, and take place in or near the City of Nelson, B.C.

What Kind of Events Can Be Posted?

Any event can be submitted for posting. The event will be posted to the calendar as long as it is considered by the moderator to have a significant "arts, culture or heritage" component. The event must also be in or near the City of Nelson in B.C. Canada. Major festivals and events in nearby cities will also be listed. Events can include:
  • workshops and classes
  • forums and lectures at which significant discussion of arts, culture or heritage take place
  • markets at which there is a significant "arts, culture or heritage" presence (artisans, live music, dancing, etc.)
  • community gatherings which include music, dance, visual art, or other significant artistic or cultural components

What Information Should I Include?

Remember that the calendar is intended for events with significant "arts, culture or heritage" components, and that the site moderator can only post your event if it meets these criteria. Please double check to make sure that the event location, time, date, ticket and contact information are correct. Make sure to include both a short description as well as a longer, more detailed description of your event.

Please be courteous and remember that this calendar is intended for use by members of the public of all ages. Please limit all unnecessary profanity in event submissions, and bear in mind that the site moderator may choose to edit submissions before posting them.

Who Created The Calendar?

This calendar is an initiative by the City of Nelson Cultural Development Commission.

Who Moderates The Calendar?

The calendar moderator is appointed by the City of Nelson Cultural Development Commission. All content submitted for posting must be approved by the site moderator before appearing on the calendar. The calendar is intended for events containing significant "arts, culture or heritage" components taking place in or near the City of Nelson, B.C.

How Long Does It Take For An Event To Be Approved?

Events should be approved by the next business day, if not sooner. You will receive confirmation from the site moderator as soon as the content has been approved for posting.

If My Event Is Not Approved For Posting, What Can I Do?

If your submission is not approved for posting, you will receive an email from the site moderator containing an explanation of how your submission did not meet our posting criteria. Please bear in mind that events must contain a significant "arts, culture or heritage" component to be approved for posting. If you feel that your event meets these criteria, but has not been approved, please contact us through the "Contact" form on this website.
